I apologise for writing in English but although I speak some Turkish I’m not able to write very much. I’m a Turkish citizen and lived in the Fethiye (Mugla) area for the last 15 years and what you’ve achieved in Samsun for the street cats is absolutely wonderful, inspirational and a credit to you all!! A number of animal charities operate in our area and they do amazing work raising money to pay for neutering, treatment, feeding programs etc. I take care of around 30 street cats with the help of a local charity and I couldn’t do it without them but despite this there are still many cats and kittens whose lives are very difficult. Conditions have greatly improved over the years with trap, neuter and release programs as well as feeding stations but I feel so much more could be done to improve the quality of their lives especially by providing a safe environment for them to live, away from the street, out of harms way: the dangers of traffic and sadly poisoning. A cat park run by volunteers would offer a wonderful opportunity to educate aswell. Its for this reason I am writing to you. Whilst there is an animal shelter in our area, and the kedi ev is run mostly by dedicated English volunteers, I would welcome any help and advice you could offer in regards to how we could approach our Belediye for a similar project, estimated costs involved etc. I hope you can help and look forward to hearing from you.
